The Philadelphia 76ers versus the New York Knicks game ended in controversy according to renowned TV analyst Stephen A. Smith, who believed that Tyrese Maxey was robbed when a clear-cut foul wasn’t called in his favor. This led to the Knicks getting the advantage and eventually coming out on top 104-101.

Stephen A. Smith, a known New York Knicks fan, surprisingly spoke in favor of a rival team even though the incident favored his team.

I saw Tyrese Maxey get mugged, if I’m being totally honest. He got fouled at least two or three teams. There’s no reason on earth why that call shouldn’t have been made. It wasn’t made, unfortunately for the Sixers. If you’re a New York Knicks fan, it’s not unfortunate. Stephen A. Smith via ESPN’s Get Up

The 76ers had fought bravely throughout the game and were leading by five points in the game’s final 30 seconds before the best player in the East, Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo, scored two late beyond the arc shot to secure the win. However, before that happened, Tyrese Maxey had a clear-cut foul when Brunson tugged his shirt and was shoved to the ground by Josh Hart, and Head Coach Nick Nurse denied the opportunity to call a timeout amidst the chaos.

Furthermore, it was reported that the 76ers would lodge a complaint with the league authorities. However, they need not let their heads go down as they welcome the Knicks team to the Wells Fargo Center in two days and attempt a comeback.

Tyrese Maxey named 2023-2024 NBA Most Improved Player

Despite the alleged mugging and chaotic end to the 76ers-Knicks game, Tyrese Maxey has some good news to cherish. He has been named the 2023-24 Most Improved Player of the NBA. This was announced yesterday by the league.

As reported, the vote was extremely close as he narrowly edged out Chicago Bulls’ guard Coby White for the award, with Houston Rockets Alperen Sengun coming a distant third.

Maxey set a new career high last season, averaging 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.0 beyond-the-arc shots per game. In his fourth season with the Philadelphia 76ers, he is 21st in the 2020 NBA Draft. The pick by the 76ers has grown as a player and really stepped up for the Phillies without injured star player Joel Embiid.
