Former NBA guard/forward and Slam Dunk Contest champion Vince Carter is joining Bally Sports Florida for broadcast of Magic games this season, according to Khobi Price of the Orlando Sentinel.

Carter, 45, will serve as an analyst next to play-by-play man David Steele and analyst Jeff Turner for select games, the Magic announced, confirming the move.

The No. 5 overall pick in 1998, Carter soared as a player with the Raptors, before spending time with the Nets, Magic, Suns, Mavericks, Grizzlies, Kings and Hawks. He retired in 2020 with career averages of 16.7 points and 4.3 rebounds.

Carter is a native of Daytona Beach and product of Mainland High School, then played at North Carolina.

Per the Magic press release: “Carter also calls select Hawks games on Bally Sports Southeast, a role he has held for the past two seasons. He has also broadcasted for ESPN and served as a color analyst for NBC’s basketball coverage at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.”

He’ll make his debut with Bally Sports Florida for the Magic’s home game against the Suns on Friday, Price reported.
