Vlade Divac steps down as Kings GM; Luke Walton reportedly safe

The Sacramento Kings confirmed on Friday that general manager Vlade Divac has stepped down. Joe Dumars, who has worked as a special adviser for the club, is assuming GM duties and will be part of Sacramento's search for Divac's long-term replacement.

According to The Athletic's Sam Amick, coach Luke Walton will keep his job through the process:

Divac was promoted to Kings GM in 2015, but he was unable to end the franchise's long playoff drought that began after the 2005-06 season. According to ESPN, it's the Association's longest streak without a single playoff appearance.

The Kings finished the 2019-20 pandemic-shortened campaign at 31-41.
