The Sacramento Kings are about to get one of the most important parts of the Golden State Warriors.
Just hours after a celebratory parade for their latest Finals victory, the Warriors said goodbye to assistant coach Mike Brown.
That’s because Brown is going to be moving about 90 miles northeast in order to be the head coach for the always-struggling Kings.
But the Warriors sent Brown away in style, tweeting out a loving farewell message to their favorite AC.
“Thank you for everything, Coach Brown! Wishing you all the best in Sacramento,” the tweet read, along with a picture of Brown holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
It was a touching, sweet gesture from the team.
It also might be the start of a very intense, challenging period in Brown’s career.
Counting On The Kings
Brown has his work cut out for him with the Kings, to put it gently.
The Kings have been a mess for a very long time and they haven’t come close to making the playoffs in nearly 20 years.
In fact, their playoff drought has been ongoing for 16 years now and their latest .366 winning percentage was the worst since the 2017 season.
But Brown thinks he can turn the team around and sees a lot of opportunities.
This isn’t his first head coaching position: he once led the Cleveland Cavaliers and brought them all the way to the 2007 Finals.
He also coached the Los Angeles Lakers too.
But neither of those jobs held the same possibilities – and challenges – that the Kings’ position does.
Many before him have tried and failed to get things in order for Sacramento.
Is Brown the man to finally get them in working order?
