Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga added to Rising Stars roster

Golden State Warriors rookie standout Jonathan Kuminga will now participate in this weekend's NBA Rising Stars game as part of the upcoming All-Star weekend, the team announced on Wednesday.

Kuminga is a late addition to the team, replacing injured Indiana Pacers rookie Chris Duarte.

The announcement comes after several members of the Warriors, including head coach Steve Kerr, publicly spoke out against the 19-year-old not originally being selected to the team on February 4. Kuminga, who is averaging 7.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, has gradually become a regular presence in Golden State's lineup and currently leads all rookies with 19.8 points per 36 minutes.

The Democratic Republic of Congo product will be part of the "Team Payton" roster for the Rising Stars game alongside other star youngsters like Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels.

The Rising Stars game, which consists of four teams, will be played on Friday night.
