Warriors' Steph Curry to have MRI on left leg after leaving matchup vs. Mavericks

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry left Saturday's game against the Dallas Mavericks after suffering a left leg injury in the second half.

Late in the third quarter, Curry appeared to injure his leg while guarding a driving Mavericks' McKinley Wright IV.

After examination by the Warriors' trainer, Curry went to the locker room for X-rays which the team reported were negative. However, Curry will have an MRI.

The most troubling thing about Curry's injury is that it occurred on what looked like an innocent play. Replays showed that Curry and Wright banged knees. Curry's left knee buckled, but the contact didn't look too severe.

Anthony Slater of The Athletic added more context, pointing out that Curry had initially injured his left leg Thursday night against the Denver Nuggets.

Ahead of Saturday's contest with the Mavericks, the Warriors listed Curry on the injury report with a lower left leg contusion.

Before exiting the game, Curry dropped 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting, adding seven assists and six boards. The 34-year-old is averaging 29.7 points, 6.4 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals over 37 games.

The Warriors managed to pull off a 119-113 win over the Mavericks without Curry for the fourth quarter. Golden State snapped a two-game losing streak, improving to 27-26, a game better than the Portland Trailblazers for eighth in the Western Conference.
