Warriors working out former high school phenom amid Knicks, Nets interest

Harry Giles has not appeared in an NBA game since May 2021. However, that hasn't stopped a number of interested teams from knocking on the 25-year-old's door.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, Giles will partake in a workout with the Golden State Warriors. The workout will cap off a busy few months for the former first-round pick, who has recently worked out for the Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks. The latter also attended Giles' workout in Las Vegas when he worked out for numerous teams during Summer League.

Giles is most prominently known for his high school accolades. A highly touted five-star prospect coming out of Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, Giles was named the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2016. Jayson Tatum, Lonzo Ball, Bam Adebayo and De'Aaron Fox are just a handful of the notable names that Giles ranked ahead of in his class.

Numerous knee injuries have severely slowed down Giles' career. He's averaged 5.9 points and 3.8 rebounds over his 142 games in the NBA. He most recently played for the Agua Caliente Clippers of the G League in 2022 but was waived after suffering a season-ending injury.

Still, if Giles can stay on the hardwood, the 6-foot-10-inch big man would serve as a quality depth piece for a rather small Golden State frontcourt. Should the Warriors add Giles, he would match the recently signed Dario Saric as the tallest player on the roster, as no one else exceeds 6-foot-9-inches.

Over 38 games with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2020-21, Giles averaged 10.6 defensive rebounds per 36 minutes. His presence on the boards would further strengthen a Warriors team that ranked seventh in the NBA in defensive rebounds last season, averaging 34.0 per game.
