Jared Butler is coming off a season where he played in six games for the Oklahoma City Thunder and averaged 6.2 points and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 46.9% from the field.
This summer, the former Baylor star became a free agent, and (on Friday) the Washington Wizards officially signed Butler to a two-way contract.

In addition to the Thunder, Butler spent his rookie season with the Utah Jazz.
His career averages are 4.1 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 41.5% from the field and 34.4% from the three-point range in 48 regular season games (he has also appeared in one NBA playoff game).
Butler is also coming off a solid season in the G League, where he averaged 16.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists per contest while shooting 43.9% from the field and 35.7% from the three-point range in 27 regular season games (he also appeared in 18 Showcase Cup games).
Since Butler will be on a two-way contract, he will continue to play in the G League (in addition to the NBA).
At just 22 years old, the 2021 NCAA Champion could be a good player for the Wizards to develop.
This past year, the team went 35-47 and finished as the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference.
They have missed the NBA playoffs in each of the previous two seasons and made significant changes to the roster this summer.
