Watch: Draymond Green puts Rudy Gobert in a sleeper hold

Draymond Green didn’t start a fight early in the game Tuesday night. He did end it.

Less than two minutes into the in-season tournament game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors, Jaden McDaniels and Klay Thompson got into a fracas, seemingly caused by jersey-pulling.

When Rudy Gobert ran into the fray, Green pulled him away with what appeared to be a sleeper hold.

Gobert may have been acting as a peacemaker, but when Green saw the Frenchman grabbing his teammate, he forcibly removed him from the situation.

When the dust cleared, the players were separated and the stretched-out jerseys were smoothed out, the officials ejected Thompson, McDaniels and Green — all before a single point had been scored.

It’s Green’s second ejection in three games. While he may have been defending his teammate, Green’s reputation for rough play combined with the efficacy of his choke hold means the Warriors forward is likely looking at a suspension.

Green and Gobert are rivals, both because of their constant presence at the top of Defensive Player of the Year voting and their playoff meetings when Gobert was on the Utah Jazz.

Without two starters and Stephen Curry, the Warriors kept it surprisingly close before falling 104-101, thanks to rookie Brandon Podziemski’s career-high 23 points.

But it’s very likely that they’ll have to play short-handed again once the NBA’s announces its punishment for Green.
