On February 5, 1992, the Tar Heels hosted top-ranked Duke and handed the Blue Devils their first loss of the season, 75-73. The eventual national champion Blue Devils had a loaded roster with six eventual NBA players including Christian Laettner, Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley, and Cherokee Parks. UNC also had a stacked team with six more future NBA players like Geoge Lynch, Eric Montross, and future head coach Hubert Davis. Laettner missed two opportunities in the final seconds to tie the game. Davis would lead the Tar Heels to victory with a team-high 16 points and three rebounds.
