Joel Embiid can’t help winding up his opponents a bit.
Embiid threw down a monster dunk on Rondae Hollis-Jefferson during Game 5 of the first round game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets, and gave him a finger-point after the fact. That got Embiid a technical.
It’s worth noting that Embiid and Hollis-Jefferson are friends, but the referee clearly viewed it as taunting.
It’s unlikely to go down well with the Nets, who haven’t exactly been thrilled with how Embiid has been officiated this series. That said, it was a perfect encapsulation of how the game was going, with Philadelphia scoring the first 14 points of the game and leading 25-3 with three minutes left in the first. Embiid has probably earned the right to style a bit with dominance like that.
