Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant (35) Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Watch: Kevin Durant had a hilarious response to hearing he’s Victor Wembanyama’s favorite player

Prior to Tuesday's matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns, forward Kevin Durant got a bit of a tip of the cap when he was informed that he was rookie phenom and No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama's favorite player.

The game marked Wembanyama's first matchup against Durant, and while the 19-year-old's fandom makes for a pretty cool story, Durant's response to hearing it was pretty much perfect.

"It means I'm old," Durant told the reporter, per the NBA on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

It's pretty in line with what you'd expect from Durant, who's been known to have a good sense of humor about this type of thing. Regardless of the fact that the Suns star has been in the league since 2007, he's still playing at an elite level.

Durant is fresh off a 2022-23 season in which he averaged 29.1 points per game while playing 39 games with the Brooklyn Nets and eight in the regular season with Phoenix. Through three games this season, Durant is averaging 27.7 points, along with a career-best 8.7 rebounds per game and 4.0 assists per game.
