Watch: Mavs' Luka Doncic shows up official after carry call
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic might be hearing from the league office soon.
Called for a carrying violation during the Mavericks' 115-90 win over the Miami Heat Friday night, Doncic responded on the next possession by hitting a step-back three-pointer before mocking the officials.
Doncic disagreed with the call, but showing up the ref after the fact is bound to garner the star some unwanted attention from the NBA and possibly a hit to his wallet.
To the shock of no one, the incident didn't impact Doncic's game. The 23-year-old dynamo shot 12-of-24 from the field and 5-of-8 from three, dropping 34 points on the Heat while adding team-highs in rebounds (11) and assists (7).
Doncic also drained a 37-foot buzzer-beat at the end of the first quarter, his longest made shot of the season, according to ESPN Stats and Info.
Doncic posted his 32nd game with 30 or more points, which leads the NBA per StatMuse.
Following Friday night's performance against the Heat, Doncic is averaging 33.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 1.5 steals over 42 games.
Unsurprisingly, Doncic is among the favorites in the NBA MVP race. Per Oddschecker, sportsbooks have Doncic listed with the second-best odds to win the MVP (+430), trailing two-time MVP of the Denver Nuggets, Nikola Jokic (-105).
