The Los Angeles Lakers lost their fourth straight game on Wednesday and have the second-worst record in the NBA at 2-9. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith gave his latest opinion on the state of the Lakers during Thursday morning's edition of "First Take."

The Lakers' latest loss came at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers, a contest in which LeBron James exited the fourth quarter early with a groin injury. The 37-year-old signed a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension in the offseason.

Since winning the championship in the "bubble" just over two years ago, the Lakers have been on a steady downward trajectory. They were eliminated in the first round of the 2021 playoffs and failed to even qualify for the postseason in 2022, which led to the firing of Frank Vogel.

Smith's rant about the Lakers on Thursday echoed thoughts he had from prior to the season, when he said that the Clippers are "mopping the streets of L.A." with their rivals. The Clippers have now defeated the Lakers nine times in a row.

The Clippers have won two straight overall and are 7-5 on the young season.
