Watch: Stephen Curry makes long shot — on the golf course

Stephen Curry proved Saturday that he can score from distance in any sport.

Curry got a hole-in-one on the seventh hole at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. It's the first hole-in-one in tournament history and helped Curry extend his second-round lead.

It was the second hole-in-one of Curry's lifetime and he showed off some long-distance running in his emphatic celebration. But with 31 holes to go, it was too early for Curry's patented "Night Night" move.

Curry led the celebrity tournament after the first round, shooting a 69, which was three under par. However, the tournament uses the Modified Stableford scoring system, which awards points per hole: one for a par, three for a birdie, six for an eagle and eight for a hole-in-one. (A bogey is zero and a double-bogey is -2 points).

That means Curry nailed an eight-pointer, a first for the NBA's all-time leader in three-point baskets. Even for a guy who has hit a 62-foot shot in the playoffs, draining a shot from 456 feet on the golf course was impressive.

After two rounds, Curry was clinging to a three-point lead over 2020 champion Mardy Fish, who put up 29 points Saturday. Just like he did in Game 7 against the Sacramento Kings this year, Curry had 50 points through two days. But while Curry badly wants to win this tournament for the first time, there's also a family bet on the line.

The Warriors star is competing against his father, Dell and his younger brother, Seth. According to the family bet, Steph is giving 12 points to his father and 45 points to his younger brother. Seth's five-point effort Saturday put him ahead of his older brother, setting up a situation where Steph could win the tournament but lose the family competition.

And losing the Curry bet at this tournament often means getting wet, as Dell learned in 2017 when Steph defeated him for best round of the tourney.

Curry needs one more day of big shots to hold on for his first title. And hopefully to stay out of Lake Tahoe.
