Watch: Victor Wembanyama records first 10-block game against Raptors
Victor Wembanyama has lived up to the hype during his rookie season. And on Monday, he delivered arguably his best performance of the year.
The No. 1 overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft had 10 blocks as part of his second career triple-double — but his first with blocks. Wembanyama previously had a triple-double (with 10 assists) on Jan. 10 against the Pistons.
He set a career-high with his ninth block in the third quarter as he chased down a Scottie Barnes dunk attempt.
Wembanyama recorded his 10th when he swatted fellow rookie Gradey Dick's putback attempt with 6:35 remaining in the fourth.
With his phenomenal performance, Wembanyama became the first rookie since Hall of Fame Spurs center David Robinson (and only the fourth rookie ever) to have a triple-double with blocks.
The Spurs (11-43, 15th in Western Conference) won in a rout, 122-99. Wembanyama also had 27 points, 14 rebounds five assists, two steals and two three-pointers made, becoming the first rookie in NBA history to record that kind of stat line.
Per Action Network, Wembanyama (-365) is the front-runner for 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year. He makes voters' jobs easy with games like this.
