Wednesday's Wizards-Hornets game postponed due to COVID-19

The Washington Wizards won't be returning to action against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.

Washington confirmed on Monday afternoon that Wednesday's contest at Charlotte has been postponed because the Wizards can't dress the required league minimum of eight players for the game. It's the fifth straight game scrapped for Washington and the league's 15th postponement related to COVID-19 since the regular season tipped off on Dec. 22.

Sam Quinn of CBS Sports has a list of every game that's been postponed.

The Wizards have been dealing with a coronavirus outbreak coming off their 128-107 win over the Phoenix Suns on Jan. 11 and haven't played since. They've been unable to dress squads for matchups against the Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons, Cleveland Cavaliers and now Charlotte. Washington was supposed to host Cleveland on Sunday and Monday.

On Friday, Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard told reporters that six players had tested positive for COVID-19, and another three were unavailable at that time due to the NBA's health and safety protocols. It's expected the league and National Basketball Players Association will soon agree to expand rosters to aid teams during the current coronavirus crisis.

Per multiple reports, there are currently no plans for the NBA to pause the season.
