This summer has been a summer to remember for the Washington Wizards. This will be the summer many will either regret or be proud of. This has been the summer of decisions and the decisions that were made this summer have been decisions that will help this team for years to come or handicap this team for years to come.

We all know the shot callers in Washington will be Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole. But who will be the third star there for the Wizards? Who will be an important piece for the future of this franchise? Well, the Wizards did trade up in the draft to land Bilal Coulibaly. He is going to be an interesting piece. However, he is very raw and unpolished. We can expect a Johnny Davis approach for him this upcoming season.

Then there’s Landry Shamet who the Wizards acquired from the Phoenix Suns. He has had a solid career thus far in the NBA. Shamet is a sniper from beyond the ark. He plays his role and he plays his role well. However, that is the ceiling here for Shamet as he has bounced around the league quite a bit. He is simply a high end role player.

The player that comes to mind as the mystery piece for the Wizards is Danilo Gallinari. This is a player who didn’t see the court all season last year as he tore his ACL in August of last year. He also is a veteran who doesn’t quite fit the timeline for the Wizards. In fact, his birthday was yesterday as he just celebrated his 35th birthday. He is only getting older and he will only have more injuries

With that being said, he can still help a team win who has championship aspirations. The Wizards are in a rebuild. We can expect the Wizards to flip him for another piece that can help the Wizards now and in the distant future as well. With that said, while Galanari is the mystery player in the meantime, the true mystery player is yet to be determined. That is, until the Wizards decide to move on from their latest acquisition in Danilo Galanari.
