Rudy Gay is coming off a year where he played in 56 games for the Utah Jazz and averaged 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 38.0% from the field.

This summer, the 17-year NBA veteran was a free agent, and he signed with the Golden State Warriors

However, the Warriors waived him before the beginning of the regular season, and he still remains a free agent, available to be signed by any team in the league.

During the preseason, Gay played in two games and averaged 2.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 7.3 minutes of playing time per contest.

Gay was the eighth pick in the 2006 NBA Draft and has played for the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors.

His career averages are 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 45.2% from the field and 34.6% from the three-point range in 1,120 regular season games.

The 37-year-old is one of the best players in NBA history to never make an All-Star Game.

The regular season began nearly a month ago, so Gay will be a name to watch, as he could help many teams.

As for the Warriors, whom Gay was most recently with, they are 6-3 in their first nine games of the new season, which has them as the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

They will play their next game on Saturday evening when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers
