Throughout Head Coach Wes Unseld Jr’s tenure with the Washington Wizards, it’s safe to say that he’s been keeping his head above water. The Wizards came into last night’s game versus the Detroit Pistons on a nine game losing streak. They were a team desperately in need of a win just like the Pistons who are now on a mouth dropping 14 game losing streak.

The Wizards took care of business on the road as they secured a +19 point victory defeating the Pistons 126-107. This game was close at the half, but Washington was able to pull away thanks to the bench. Danilo Gallinari and Landry Shamet played well as they were able to hit some open three point shots in this game.

The decision by Coach Wes Unseld Jr. to play them as much as he did was the right move for him and the team. There are two things that decision has affected for the Wizards. The first one is the Wizards could have very well loss last night if they didn’t play so well off the bench for them. Number two - Wes Unseld Jr. could have very well been relieved of his duties coaching this team if the Wizards did not win last night.

The Pistons are clearly the worst team in the league. Not only do they have the worst record in the NBA, but they may very well have the worst roster as well. They don’t defend very well nor do they have many guys that can knock down an open shot. They lack scorers that other teams around the association have. Last night’s win for Head Coach Wes Unseld Jr. meant the world for him as it could have been the defining moment if he would have a job today.
