Wizards' Bradley Beal frustrated after scoring 47 in loss: 'It's been tough'

It has been a frustrating season for Bradley Beal, as the 3-11 Washington Wizards are one of the worst teams in the league despite the star leading the league in scoring with 35.4 points per game. On Wednesday night, the 27-year-old put up 47 points, but even that was not enough, as the Wizards lost 124-106 to the New Orleans Pelicans. Beal admitted that it was tough seeing yet another great performance go to waste.

"A lot of the s--t I'm doing, I'm in awe half the time too," Beal told reporters. "I just hate losing...it's been tough."

Is Beal finally ready to give up on Washington? He has looked noticeably despondent on the bench during the last few games, as it appears to be settling in that the team around him was not built to win games. Beal has been absolutely transcendent in the Wizards' current five-game losing streak, including scoring 60 against the Philadelphia 76ers.

While Beal has insisted that he wants to stay with the Wizards rather than jump ship and join a contender, one has to wonder if his position will change given that the Wizards look no closer to being a real contender in the Eastern Conference.

Beal is in the last year of his current contract and is set to become a free agent after the season. If he knows he does not want to stay with Washington, the team could benefit from being able to trade him now for some assets rather than him just walking away this summer and leaving the Wizards empty-handed.
