Kevin Durant sent the NBA world into a frenzy when he requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets.

As one of the greatest players in league history, the interest in him was bound to be massive no matter what. What really sweetens the pot as far as acquiring Durant even more is the fact that he also has four years remaining on his contract.

Theoretically, at least, which team gets Durant gets him for a while.

This week, a new potential dark-horse suitor for Durant seemed to jump into the fray.

“Several sources even have told Hoops Wire to keep an eye on the Wizards, who could make a major push,” NBA insider Sam Amico wrote recently. “Durant is a DC product, too. He may not be upset about playing at home alongside Bradley Beal.”

It will be fascinating to see how this matter ultimately unfolds. A conspiracy theory regarding Durant’s future recently started making the rounds, but it remains unclear how viable it truly is.

As far as everyone knows at the moment, there is only one squad Durant is unwilling to go to. Beyond that, he seems fairly open to all options. According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, one team is currently “most determined” to land him, though it is uncertain whether the Heat will actually be able to make things happen.

Where will Durant ultimately end up when it’s all said and done?

Time will tell.
