The Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies are interested in pursuing Cleveland Cavaliers small forward Caris LeVert in unrestricted free agency this summer, according to NBA insider Sam Amico of HoopsWire.

However, it’s worth mentioning that Amico — who covers the Cavs — expects LeVert to re-sign with Cleveland.

“The Cavs want LeVert to return and LeVert would like to be back in Cleveland,” Amico wrote. “So both sides are off to a good start. Now, as is always the case in these situations, it’s just a matter of the dollars making sense. The Cavs are confident that will happen, sources told Hoops Wire. On top of that, LeVert has said he wants to be here.

“Others are said to be interested, including the Wizards and Grizzlies, per sources. But rival teams will have their own business to handle before worrying about bringing in a player such as LeVert.”

LeVert averaged 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists this season while shooting 43.1% from the field, 39.2% from beyond the arc and 72.2% from the free-throw line in 74 games. The 28-year-old helped the Cavs win 51 games in the regular season.

Cleveland lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games. LeVert averaged 15.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in the five-game series. The swingman told reporters after the season ended that he would love to stay in Cleveland.

“I definitely want to be a part of this culture, be a part of this team,” LeVert told reporters after the season. “This is a super special group and I definitely want to be a part of that. But you all know it’s a business, so we’ll see what happens this summer. But I would love to come back.”
