Wizards, head coach Scott Brooks to part ways after not coming to terms on new deal

There has been no shortage of news around the NBA on Wednesday, that's for sure.

The latest comes from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, who reports the Washington Wizards and head coach Scott Brooks will part ways this offseason after not coming to terms on a new deal.

Brooks has been with the Wizards since the 2016-17 campaign, going 183-207 and 10-14 in the playoffs. Washington has only made it past the first round once since he took over and has failed to make the postseason in two of his five seasons at the helm.

It's unclear who the Wizards might be targeting for their vacant head-coaching position. However, they'll face plenty of competition with five other teams around the NBA searching for a new bench boss.

It's also uncertain what the move means for Wizards star Bradley Beal, who has been the subject of trade rumors this offseason. If he sticks around Washington, he'll likely have a lot of input in the Wizards' head-coaching search.

Wednesday marked a busy day for the NBA. Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul was ruled out indefinitely after landing in the league's COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard was ruled out indefinitely with a right knee sprain. And the New Orleans Pelicans fired head coach Stan Van Gundy after just one season.
