The Dallas Mavericks’ woes continue as Anthony Davis suffers an injury.

The Dallas Mavericks may have won against the Indiana Pacers, but it was a bittersweet victory for the organization.

After all, the Mavs were handed troubling Anthony Davis injury news as the 2020 NBA champion played in just 7 minutes against the Indiana Pacers.

Even before the game, AD was dealing with bilateral Achilles tendinopathy, and the Mavs officially listed left lower leg soreness as the reason behind his early exit.

Richard Jefferson goes off on Anthony Davis

With the Mavs already struggling to play well in Kyrie Irving’s absence, losing Davis for an extended period could have a catastrophic effect on their postseason hopes.

Either way, former NBA player Richard Jefferson went off on Davis and claimed the Mavs star cannot blame anyone else.

“It’s not Anthony Davis, it’s not him, we saw it with Zion [Williamson]. You’ve seen it with players if they don’t come in in elite shape, it’s calf injuries,” Jefferson said on the Road Trippin’ Show.

He added: “it’s hamstring injuries, and that’s not the only way to get those injuries, but the probability of those go up. Not conditioned, those probabilities go up.”

Since getting traded to the Mavericks, Davis has seemingly lost his edge over his rivals. Davis showed up overweight at NBA training camp.

Many ignored that, but it’s obvious that AD’s poor conditioning is already taking a toll on his performance this season.

Richard Jefferson further slams ‘overweight’ Anthony Davis

For years, Davis has been in contention for the best power forward in the NBA. However, the former No. 1 overall pick is playing like a shell of his former self this season.

After all, AD is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. These numbers are below the big man’s career averages.

Jefferson once again pointed out that Davis being overweight is the reason behind this sharp dip in his numbers.

“Not conditioned, and overweight, and you’re about to go play against the best, most elite athletes in the world, and you’re going to show up overweight or out of shape.

“You are begging for something to not go the way you want,” Jefferson concluded.

Can Davis silence his critics as the season progresses, or is this the end of the prime of one of the most dominant PFs of this generation? Only time will tell.
