Anthony Edwards becomes youngest player in NBA history with 300 threes

The Minnesota Timberwolves have known for a while now that they found a franchise cornerstone when they selected Anthony Edwards with the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. What they might not have known was just how quickly the 20-year-old would enter himself into the discussion of current NBA greats, particularly when it comes to long-distance shooting.

With his second three-pointer tonight, @theantedwards_ has eclipsed 300 career threes. At 20y-171d, Edwards becomes the youngest player in @NBA history to reach 300 three-pointers. He passes Luka Dončić, who sank his 300th career triple on 2/21/20 in Orlando at age 20y-358d.

Edwards played in all 72 games last season, averaging 19.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 32.1 minutes per contest, while posting a .417/.329/.776 shooting line and being named first team All-Rookie. The former Georgia Bulldog has improved his already impressive game through the first half of the 2021-2022 campaign, bettering his numbers in every aforementioned category.

In 39 contests, Edwards is currently averaging 22.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 35.1 minutes per game, while registering a .442/.372/.805 shooting line. He entered Sunday tied for fourth in the NBA in three-pointers made per game at 3.3, while 127 connections from deep ranked him ninth.

Coming into Sunday night's game against the Brooklyn Nets, the Timberwolves were tied with the Los Angeles Lakers (23-24) for seventh place in the Western Conference at 22-23.
