Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has gained admiration on and off the court, but the NBA standout recently admitted he has no plans to pursue acting again despite getting praise for his role in the 2022 film "Hustle."

Edwards, who portrayed the trash-talking draft prospect Kermit Wilts in the movie alongside Adam Sandler, said acting isn’t a fit for him.

“I gained a new respect for acting once I did that movie,” Edwards explained in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.

“I don’t think I’m fit for that job.”

While his acting performance in the film earned him recognition, Edwards is firmly focused on basketball and his team’s playoff aspirations.

Following an offseason trade that brought in Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, Edwards is optimistic about the Timberwolves' direction.

“It’s been fun trying to figure it out,” he said, noting that while the team hasn’t perfected their game yet, progress is evident.

Anthony Edwards is determined to lead Timberwolves to success after last season’s playoff disappointment.

Edwards is also embracing his role as a leader on and off the court, a position many believe cements him as the future face of the NBA. The Timberwolves’ Christmas Day game against the Dallas Mavericks demonstrated his growing influence.

He delivered a strong performance with 26 points, eight rebounds and five assists, helping the Timberwolves secure a 105-99 win despite a late-game surge from Kyrie Irving and the Mavericks, per  ESPN.
