Ben Simmons to 'ramp it up' this week, nearing debut with Nets?

Ben Simmons hasn't played in an NBA game in eight months . He's yet to make his 2021-2022 season debut and has yet to suit up for his new team, the Brooklyn Nets.

The long-awaited return of the three-time All-Star is reportedly on the horizon.

Simmons relocated to Brooklyn from the Philadelphia 76ers along with Seth Curry, Andre Drummond (along with two first-round picks) in exchange for James Harden and Paul Millsap just hours before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 10. Harden hasn't played since Feb. 2 due to a hamstring injury, while Simmons hasn't taken the court all season -- citing a desire to focus on his mental health -- and has been fined thousands of dollars as a result.

The Australian point guard had his introductory press conference with the Sixers last Tuesday and said he hoped to be ready to play by the time the Nets take on the 76ers on March 10. Simmons asked for a trade out of Philly following last spring's shocking second-round playoff exit against the Atlanta Hawks, which saw him struggle mightily in crunch time.
