The Milwaukee Bucks currently own the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 7–4 record. It is hard to imagine Milwaukee finding this much success early on without superstar power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The 30-year-old veteran has made a strong case for MVP through his first ten appearances, averaging a league-leading 33.4 points, 12.9 field goals per game and 10.8 free-throw attempts.

He has also contributed 11.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.3 blocks while shooting an incredibly efficient 62.9% from the field and an impressive 50.0% from three-point range.

If Antetokounmpo can sustain even a fraction of his improved perimeter shooting, he could be the most formidable player in the league, already nearly unstoppable when attacking the basket.

As Milwaukee prepares for Wednesday’s road matchup against the Charlotte Hornets, Antetokounmpo’s status has taken a hit.

After being listed as probable and playing in Monday’s 116–114 win over the Dallas Mavericks, the Bucks announced they downgraded him to questionable with left knee patellar tendinopathy on X.

It has been a recurring issue that Antetokounmpo has managed throughout the season. If he is unable to go, his next opportunity to suit up would come Friday in a rematch at home against Charlotte.

Antetokounmpo’s impact on the Bucks is undeniable. He is a two-time MVP, nine-time All-Star, nine-time All-NBA selection and five-time All-Defensive honoree. He led Milwaukee to a championship in 2021, earning Finals MVP, and remains one of the greatest players in franchise history.

With his prime years still in full swing, the Bucks are doing everything they can to maximize their championship window. That includes bold roster decisions, including waiving and stretching Damian Lillard’s contract to create the flexibility to sign Myles Turner in the offseason to bolster their frontcourt depth.

Milwaukee knows its title hopes hinge on Antetokounmpo’s health and dominance. Every move they make is designed to keep that window open as long as possible. With Antetokounmpo still playing at this level, they have no reason to think the window is closing anytime soon.
