Cavaliers' Collin Sexton reportedly 'very available' in trade talks

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton is reportedly "very available" in trade discussions, according to The Athletic's Jason Lloyd.

It was reported last month that Cleveland "prefers to move on from Sexton, rather than sign him to a deal that would greatly inhibit their flexibility moving forward," according to Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated

However, rumors of the Cavs being open to trading Sexton are not new. The 22-year-old and his agent are reportedly seeking a near-max extension, and Cleveland would be cap-strained if it were to give him that kind of money because it also has to re-sign Jarrett Allen.

It was also reported in May that several Cavs players were annoyed with how little Sexton passes the ball, and they even got taunted by opponents about it. So, a trade could have possibly been brewing for a while.

Sexton was one of Cleveland's best players during the 2020-21 campaign, averaging 24.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 37.1% from deep.

The 22-year-old has one season remaining on his four-year, $20.1 million deal. He'll make $6.3 million during the 2021-22 campaign before becoming a restricted free agent next summer.
