Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown (hamstring) out Friday vs. Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers could be without four-time NBA champion LeBron James because of an abdominal strain for Friday's matchup at the Boston Celtics. 

A different big-name player is certain to be sidelined for that anticipated contest. 

According to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, the Celtics have confirmed that All-Star guard Jaylen Brown will remain out through at least Friday because of the hamstring strain that cost him the previous six games. Back on Nov. 8, Boston head coach Ime Udoka told reporters Brown would miss one-to-two weeks because of the setback. 

Additionally, Celtics center Robert Williams is questionable with left knee tendinopathy. Guard Dennis Schroder is dealing with a left ankle sprain, and his status for Friday's outing is also up in the air. 

Brown became a temporary spectator while leading the Celtics in scoring with 25.6 points per game. ESPN stats note that fellow All-Star Jayson Tatum now sits atop that category among eligible Celtics players with 24.2 points per contest. The previously mentioned Williams, meanwhile, leads Boston with a 21.42 player efficiency rating. 

The Celtics sit at 7-8 heading into Friday's game against the 8-8 Lakers. Boston hosts a 6-8 Oklahoma City Thunder side currently traveling without its head coach (birth of child) on Saturday.
