Celtics GM Danny Ainge says team has 'been close' on pulling off trades this season

The Boston Celtics have been one of the most disappointing NBA teams this season, losing 14 of their last 21 games to put them at 15-17 and tying them with the New York Knicks and Miami Heat for the eighth seed.

The team's underwhelming performance has caused many to speculate that GM Danny Ainge may be looking to make a few trades before the trade deadline on March 25. And in a recent interview with 98.5's Toucher and Rich, Ainge confirmed that the Celtics are looking to potentially trade and that the team has already "been close" to pulling off a trade this season.

"I don't have those answers and it's probably not the time that it's going to be answered," Ainge explained when asked if the Celtics would be making a trade. "It's rare that trades get done [not close] to the deadline. We're talking and we're trying to do some things. We've been close a couple times. Time will tell."

So now that we know the Celtics are looking to trade, the big question is who would they be trading. At this point, everyone other than Jayson Tatum seems like a real possibility, as Ainge is famously unsentimental when it comes to shipping off fan favorites to improve Boston's future.
