Celtics' Jaylen Brown, Enes Kanter to participate in peaceful protests

The death of George Floyd at the hands of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chavin has caused outrage across the United States. While some protesters remain peaceful, others have destroyed and looted many businesses.

A countless number of athletes have weighed in on the situation via social media, and Colin Kaepernick is even offering to pay for lawyers for all those who have been arrested during the Minneapolis protests.

Actions normally speak louder than words, though, and Boston Celtics stars Enes Kanter and Jaylen Brown are set to join peaceful protests over the weekend. Kanter, a native of Turkey, has spoken out against racial injustice since being drafted by the Utah Jazz in 2011, and it's no surprise he'll be joining the protests.

Brown has been sharing his thoughts on Floyd's death via social media since it occurred, and joining peaceful protests is only the latest in his fight against racism and police brutality.

Floyd, an African American man, died Monday after being restrained by officer Chauvin for alleged forgery. Chauvin put immense pressure on Floyd's neck with his knee as he laid on the ground fighting for his life. A witness' video surfaced showing Floyd begging for his life and even telling Chauvin he couldn't breathe. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Chauvin finally was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
