Celtics Reveal Jaylen Brown Update After Nuggets Game

Despite holding one of the best records in the NBA, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics had found themselves on a two-game losing streak.

However, the Celtics were able to avoid dropping three consecutive games after defeating Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets 110-103 on Sunday. Brown led his squad to the win with a team-high 22 points on 6-of-15 shooting, five rebounds and eight assists.

Boston will be back in action on Wednesday after a two-day break, facing Anfernee Simons and the Portland Trail Blazers. On Tuesday, just one day before the game, the Celtics revealed a lengthy injury report, and Brown was a notable addition.

The 2024 NBA Finals MVP has been ruled as questionable for Wednesday's game due to a non-COVID illness.

Guard Jrue Holiday (right hand mallet finger) and center Kristaps Porzingis (non-COVID illness) have been ruled doubtful against Portland. This comes after the two stars have already missed a few recent games.

Like Brown, Jayson Tatum has also been ruled as questionable with right shoulder impingement. Guards Payton Pritchard (left hip flexor tightness) and Derrick White (low back contusion) are probable.

Despite being named to his fourth All-Star game, Brown is having a relatively down season. He is averaging 23.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and a career-high 4.7 assists. However, the former California star is shooting just 46.5% from the field, his worst since the 2018-19 season. He is also shooting a career-worst 32.7% from 3-point range.

Still, the Celtics head into Wednesday's game against Portland with a 43-18 record, the third-best in the league. Following the Trail Blazers, Boston will get Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.
