Playing against the Golden State Warriors is always a tough challenge. Even the best NBA teams struggle because the Warriors always find a way to make it a slugfest.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are three games into their series against the Warriors, and all of them have been challenging. They have a 2-1 lead after three games, but they are always wary of what Golden State can do in the series.
Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch has done an excellent job preparing his team for success in this postseason run. They trounced the Los Angeles Lakers in five games, and they are doing well against the Warriors despite losing Game 1.
Both matchups are challenging in their ways, but the Warriors are especially tough because of their elite defense. Draymond Green is a big part of that, but the rest of the Warriors follow a strong defensive culture within the organization.
The Timberwolves might have a 2-1 lead in this series, but it is a well-earned advantage. They have not had the best series they can have because the Warriors have made it more challenging for them to score.
The Warriors' defense is one of the toughest to crack because they have elite defenders across most positions. The most prominent are Green and Gary Payton II, but coach Steve Kerr sets the defense well.
Warriors clearly have some limitations without Steph. But man, these dudes are playing their asses off. The defense is LEGIT. Has really made it hard on the Wolves to get comfortable. I’ve been impressed.

As a postseason rival, Finch and the Timberwolves have identified the Warriors as an impossibly tough matchup. They might have the lead, but they know the Warriors will always perform well on that end of the floor.
"That's a phenomenal defensive team. They do a lot of good things and with their physicality, their on-ball competitiveness, the way they fly around. They probably close the three-point line out better than any team," Finch said ahead of Game 4. "They don't have a ton of size, but you don't know that. You feel like you're playing against an extra defender."
The Warriors have been a challenging matchup across three games, but it can become even tougher. They do not have Stephen Curry, so they must strengthen their defense. Green, Payton, and even Jimmy Butler will spearhead this charge.
Minnesota has the firepower to beat them, but they must go above and beyond. Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle are phenomenal offensive players, but they could get shut down if they don't shoot well.
Warriors are +12.4 better on defense with Draymond. https://t.co/1U7UbdzMK4

The rest of the Timberwolves can prove they are among the deepest NBA teams. Players like Naz Reid, Donte DiVincenzo, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker must contribute and help their star duo get past this elite Warriors defense.
The series is still long after three games, so Finch is right to be wary of the Warriors and what they can do. This will be important when playing against this elite Warriors defense.
