The Atlanta Hawks were lucky up until recently as none of their players had entered into the NBA health and safety protocols. Then news was released that Trae Young had entered the protocols and then it was like domino’s after that.

Joining Young was Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Clint Capela, Danilo Gallinari, Kevin Huerter and Lou Williams. This means that the entire of the Hawks starting lineup, with the exception of John Collins was either in health and safety protocols or injured.

This meant that offense was going to be hard to come by. Collins was always going to be the focal point but basketball is a team game and the Hawks needed another player to step up, This player was none other than the third-year phenom, Cam Reddish. His past two games might just be the makings of the man.

The Atlanta Hawks benefitted greatly from Cam Reddish and his offense.

Against the Orlando Magic, Reddish had a career high 34 points to go along with four rebounds, and four assists. He was efficient from deep, going 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. He was also really good from the field overall, going 11-of-23.

His only other meaningful support against the Magic was John Collins who had 28 points and 12 rebounds. However, in a game where there was not much happening, Reddish showed us the true potential that he has.

Then came the away game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Reddish again led the scoring with another efficient night from the floor, going 7-of-13. He did miss all of his attempts from deep though. What he did do was fit his offense back in with those around him as the team was playing much better basketball.

If Reddish can continue to take these leaps forward when the rest of the team returns then the Hawks will become a very difficult team to beat. They just need to get through this period with minimal damage and they could reinvigorate their playoff aspirations.
