Dirk Nowitzki Says LeBron James Becoming The All-Time Scoring Leader Would Leave Michael Jordan Out Of Arguments For The GOAT Debate
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Dirk Nowitzki thinks LeBron James would surpass Michael Jordan as the GOAT when he breaks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record.

The LeBron James and Michael Jordan debate has been around for a while now, and many people think it's closer than ever. LeBron James keeps making history with his displays in the league, and many people already call him the greatest of all time.

However, not everybody shares that excitement about Bron's GOAT status, like Shaquille O'Neal saying that even if he breaks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record, the King wouldn't be the GOAT.

Dirk Nowitzki, nevertheless, doesn't think the same. The German player, who dominated James in the unforgettable 2011 NBA Finals, recently expressed his opinion on James, praising him for his good play in year 20

Dirk Nowitzki Explains How LeBron James Would Surpass Michael Jordan As The NBA GOAT

Moreover, Nowitzki talked about the never-ending GOAT debate, saying that this new record would put LeBron ahead of Jordan on many lists across the league. Talking after the Dallas Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Lakers game, the German legend was pretty clear about LeBron becoming the GOAT over Jordan.

"I mean, tremendous that he can still play like this in year 20. The athleticism is incredible, so I'm happy for him. I always say Michael Jordan is the GOAT. If he [LeBron] really surpasses Kareem in the scoring record, I'm sort of running out of arguments for Michael. What this guy has done has been nothing short of incredible. The longevity, and I always say, you being called 'King' at 15, and how he turned out and what he's done for the communities where he's played and changed so many lives, so he's a very very special athlete and I think for now we'll appreciate watching him at the level that he's playing."

LeBron has done special things during his entire NBA career, and he's not done delighting fans. Although the Lakers aren't playing well this season and today lost another big game against the Dallas Mavericks, the King remains locked in as he keeps chasing history.

Dirk can brag about demolishing LeBron in the Finals, but he doesn't hesitate to show respect to James after all these years. Bron is closer to breaking Kareem's record, and when he does it, many people will be convinced he's the GOAT, but others will use different arguments to keep Michael Jordan at the top.
