Former Los Angeles Lakers star Dwight Howard's “Dancing with the Stars” journey came to an end after his elimination on Tuesday night.
The veteran power forward failed to impress both the judges and viewers after performing an Argentine Tango. Howard and his dance partner Daniella Karagach danced to “Santa María (del Buen Ayre)” by Gotan Project, earning a score of 26 out of 30.
In a segment of the Instant Dance Challenge, the former NBA star and his partner were given a random song, prompting them to perform a paso doble routine to Panic! at the Disco's 2016 track “Victorious,” which earned them a score of 22 out of 30.
Unfortunately, their low scores prevented them from advancing to the semifinal round.
Amid Howard's elimination from the dance competition, fans rallied behind the former basketball star and voiced their disappointment with the result.
Fans flocked to X to express their frustration with his “DWTS” journey.
Viewers praised Howard for bringing a "positive" energy to the show while showcasing his incredible talent.
“Sad to see @DwightHoward leave @officialdwts this week! He was a joy and so positive! Plus, @DKaragach is my favorite pro, so I’m sad to see her go! You guys killed it! So impressive all season!” one wrote.
“I am absolutely impressed with Dwight's journey on this show. He got the perfect partner to guide him through it, and they faced so many challenges together,” another fan commented.
The same goes for one fan, who posted how their family loved watching “DWTS” because of the NBA star.
“@DwightHoward you were my fam's favorite dancer this season on #dwts! We will miss your big smile and positive, joyful attitude on our TV every week!!” while another also posted, “Was rooting for you!!! Crushed it all season.”
Meanwhile, Howard expressed his gratitude to the viewers and fans who supported him on the show.
In a post on the official Instagram account of "DWTS," the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year commented, “Thank you all sooo much.”
On the other hand, former NFL wide receiver Danny Amendola and Team USA Olympians Ilona Maher and Stephen Nedoroscik are among the three athletes advancing to the next round.
