Just days after signing Sharife Cooper to a two-way contract, the Hawks have decided to waive the former second-round pick.

I’m slightly surprised. Cooper was selected just last year, and he flashed at times in the G-League. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the Hawks to keep him around for another season. He really struggled in Summer League, and it was always highly unlikely that he would receive many minutes this season following the acquisition of Dejounte Murray.

A McEachern High School product, hopefully Sharife Cooper can catch on somewhere and make a name for himself in the NBA. He has a lot of the offensive traits necessary to succeed at the highest level; the Hawks’ need for another scoring point guard just isn’t there right now.
