Norman Powell torched his former team for 30 points, Bam Adebayo dominated with 27 points and 14 rebounds in just 32 minutes, and the Miami Heat rolled past the struggling Los Angeles Clippers 140–123 on Monday night.
Tyler Herro and Andrew Wiggins added 22 each as Miami tied a franchise record with 24 made 3-pointers, unleashing an offensive avalanche that turned a tight game into a blowout. After trailing by two early in the second quarter, the Heat ripped off a 30–2 run, hitting 9-of-12 during the burst while the Clippers missed all 11 of their shots. Powell scored 11 in the sequence, finishing it with back-to-back threes that broke the game open.
Miami wasn’t done. The Heat opened the third quarter with a 12–0 run, all from beyond the arc, two of the threes courtesy of Adebayo, to stretch a 20-point halftime lead into a 32-point cushion. From there, the outcome was never in doubt.
Kawhi Leonard poured in 36 points and Ivica Zubac posted 16 points and 13 boards for the Clippers, who have spiraled to a 5–16 record. After a 3–2 start, they’ve gone 2–14, marking the franchise’s worst 21-game start since 2010–11.
James Harden scored 11 points in 20 minutes but did not play over the final 22:34. The Clippers were outscored by 39 points during his time on the floor.
Leonard tried to make things interesting late, scoring 19 in the fourth and trimming the deficit to 12 with two minutes remaining. But Miami landed the knockout punch moments later, a Herro three-point play, followed by threes from Powell and Wiggins, to seal its fifth 140-point outing of the season.
