Kevin Durant Tried His Hardest To Carry The Nets
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Brooklyn Nets didn’t just lose to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night – they lost hard.

Brooklyn got pretty much destroyed by the Pels with a shocking 130-108 loss on their home court.

This was not the way fans of the team wanted the new season to start.

Ben Simmons was almost a no-show and Kyrie Irving was lacking in every way too.

There was one star player putting in work for Brooklyn and it was none other than Kevin Durant.

Durant certainly wasn’t playing like someone who wants to leave the team.

He scored 32 points and blocked 4 shots during the big loss.

Still, it wasn’t enough to get the Nets a much-needed win.

This is something that fans of the Nets have experienced before.

Nets Need Help

So much for some of the pressure being taken off Durant’s shoulders.

He was doing his best to push the team across the finish line but it simply wasn’t enough.

This has happened before: during the team’s best playoff run a couple of seasons ago, Durant was his squad’s biggest help.

Yet even then, he couldn’t get them past the Milwaukee Bucks, who eventually won the Eastern Conference Finals and the NBA Finals too.

Seeing Durant play well isn’t a shock considering he’s one of the best players alive.

But the team obviously needs more than just him if they wish to redeem themselves and become an actual force in the East.

Durant will have to continue to play super well but Irving, Simmons, and the rest of the team will need to get into the act too.

There is no doubt they can do it but they quite literally dropped the ball on Wednesday night.
