As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the United States at an alarming clip, the sports world has found itself impacted big time.
More so than multiple leagues suspending their seasons, the human cost of this pandemic has been felt in the sports world.
That now includes young Sacramento Kings guard Kyle Guy. He announced on social media Saturday that he lost his grandfather to COVID-19.
Covid-19 took my grandpa last night. Mortality is a tough pill to swallow. You used to live down the street, now you’re with us everyday ❤️ I beg you, don’t let this be your wake up call. Take this seriously & stay safe pic.twitter.com/AKbmj6P97p

As you can see, Guy’s post includes a warning to the masses. Take the virus seriously. Don’t let this be your wake-up call.
A second-round pick of the Kings last year, Guy was obviously close to his grandfather. It breaks our hearts to read stories like this.
As of Saturday evening, nearly 1.2 million people have tested positive for COVID-19 with 64,600-plus deaths worldwide. The United States represents about a quarter of confirmed cases.
