Kings sign Chimezie Metu, Damian Jones to multiyear deals

“Chimezie has worked hard this season and done a terrific job to earn his place on the team,” Kings GM Monte McNair said in a statement. “He provides toughness and energy to the group. We are happy to watch his career develop in a Kings uniform.”

Metu, 24, is 6-foot-10 and in his first year with the Kings. He was originally drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the second round (No. 49 overall) in 2018.

Jones, 25, is 6-11 and signed his first 10-day deal with the Kings in early April after being released by the Los Angeles Lakers.

“Damian provides a defensive presence and has fit in nicely with our group,” McNair said. “We are excited to see his continued growth in Sacramento.”

In a related move, the Kings waived power forward Chris Silva, acquired in a trade with the Miami Heat in March.
