Bronny James entered the NBA under high expectations despite being selected 55th overall in the 2024 draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, joining his father in the first father-son duo to play simultaneously in the league. His rookie season offered limited opportunities — he appeared in 27 games and made one start, averaging 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.
In his second season, James has appeared in 11 NBA games, including one start, but has struggled to find consistent minutes and impact. He has been splitting time between the Lakers’ main roster and their G League affiliate to gain experience and playing time.
Bronny was recently recalled from South Bay before the Lakers faced the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday and saw limited minutes in that game. However, he did not feature in LA’s win over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
On Saturday, the Lakers announced he would be reassigned to the G League again.
In the G League this season, James has averaged 11.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists over two games. Last season, during 11 G League regular season appearances, he averaged 21.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

The Lakers view these G League assignments as an opportunity for James to develop his skills and adjust to the professional game while preparing for a larger role on the main roster. He continues to work toward consistent playing time with the Lakers.
Los Angeles will next face the New Orleans Pelicans in hopes of securing their seventh straight win of the season. As for James, his G League assignment gives him additional time to refine his game before potentially rejoining the main squad.
