Lakers to consider trading Anthony Davis this offseason?

The Los Angeles Lakers are the biggest disappointment in the NBA this year. After coming into the season with title aspirations, they are now in serious danger of missing the playoffs.

Obviously that has led to a lot of speculation regarding what the future may hold. Already, rumors are circulating regarding LeBron James’ next stop. But he may not be the lone Lakers star on the move.

Anthony Davis may also be on the outs. ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst suggested the team could consider trading Davis during a recent episode of Get Up.

“I think it will be something that’s discussed,” Windhorst said of a Davis trade. Although Windhorst didn’t expound on that, the implication is clear. The fact that this is even a possibility is telling.

Davis has played in just 73 games over the past two years. That missed time has resulted in him being out of rhythm even when he is on the floor.

Last year Davis averaged 21.8 points per game, and this year he is putting up 23.1 points per game. Both are his lowest totals since his sophomore campaign back in 2013-14.

Last summer when Davis underwent a massive body transformation there was talk of this possibly being his best and healthiest season ever. Obviously that hope didn’t become a reality.

If the Lakers do decide to move on from Davis, one particular team appears very interested in his services. Though obviously it remains to be seen what they’d be willing to give up.

This is going to be an interesting situation to keep an eye on over the next few weeks and months.
