When the Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package centered around Anthony Davis last season, there were plenty of calls for the team to fire general manager Nico Harrison who facilitated the deal.

Despite the Mavericks landing the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and getting Cooper Flagg as a result, the calls didn't stop. It didn't help Harrison that Dallas struggled mightily, winning just three times in their first 11 games of the 2025-26 campaign.

On Tuesday, the Mavs finally made the call to fire Harrison. Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont, who signed off on removing Harrison from his position, also penned an open letter to Dallas fans following the move.

"When the results don't meet expectations, it's my responsibility to act," Dumont wrote in his letter. "I've made the decision to part ways with general manager Nico Harrison."

Hours after the Mavericks' decision, Doncic shared a post on Instagram, highlighting how much he's enjoying his time with the Lakers.

Doncic didn't write a caption for his post, but he shared several photos taken before and during their game against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday.

Unsurprisingly, fans flooded Doncic's post with comments referencing Harrison's firing. Some also pleaded with him to return to Dallas now that Harrison is gone.

"I know you saw the news my glorious king," a commenter wrote. Another one said, "Luka- 1 Nico- 0."

"Made that post fast asl," a follower joked.

"Nico is fired. Comeback home," a Mavs fan shared.

A supporter added, "Aye Nico gone you can come back now."

"Come back to Dallas @lukadoncic!" a sixth poster stated.

Doncic has yet to speak about the Mavericks' decision, and it's unknown if he ever will considering he's now fully focused on the Lakers.

As for the Mavericks, the team will now have to regroup and plan how to move forward after what has been a disastrous nine months.
