Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic took the blame for Monday's 125-108 loss against the Phoenix Suns. Doncic gave it his all with 38 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. However, that wasn't enough for the Lakers to extend their winning streak to eight games.

The Lakers came off a 133-121 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday and were looking to add another victory to their record. Doncic was the only player to score at least 20 points. His co-star, Austin Reaves, added 16 points on 42.9% shooting from beyond the arc. LeBron James, who returned after missing the game against the Pelicans, struggled with 10 points.

Following the game, the Lakers' 21 turnovers, in which the opponent made off 32 points, were highlighted. Their ability to protect the ball against Phoenix was a different story compared to their game against New Orleans. The Purple & Gold team only had eight turnovers in the first game of their back-to-back.

Against the Suns, Doncic led the Lakers in that area with nine. He took ownership of his missteps and said that he shouldn't commit that many mistakes.

"That was my fault. I shouldn't have nine turnovers in a game," Doncic said.

Doncic also lauded the Suns' hounding defense against the Lakers. Jamaree Bouyea and Jordan Goodwin tied with three steals, setting the tone for Phoenix with 16 steals.

Following the loss, the Lakers are set to travel to Canada to face the Toronto Raptors on Thursday. This will kick off the team's three-game road trip featuring the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. The next time they'll face the Suns will be on Dec. 23.
