The New York Knicks are off to a bumpy start to the 2025-26 NBA season.
The New York Knicks are currently adjusting to new head coach Mike Brown’s tactics on the hardwood, and the result is a 2-2 start to the regular season.
Superstar Karl-Anthony Towns seems to be impacted the most as the 29-year-old was a non-factor during the Knicks’ 121-111 defeat at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Speaking of the game, star guard Jalen Brunson scared Knicks fans as he went to the floor twice. Brunson looked in discomfort, and coach Brown addressed it after the game.
Considering Brunson went down not once, but twice, Brown was understandably asked for an update on the 2x NBA All-Star.
“I know he fell. But our training will tell me if somebody gets hurt. But nobody said anything. That’s why he continued playing. I don’t know. You would have to ask him that question,” Brown said.
In simple terms, Brown had no update since Brunson still finished the night for the team.
He ended up recording 36 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists for the Knicks, albeit in a losing effort.
After brushing aside the question about injury, Brown instead handed a task to Brunson ahead of the Knicks’ NBA Cup Group Stage matchup against the Chicago Bulls.
“But I will say this. One thing he’s got to do, he’s got to keep giving officials an opportunity to call foul. Does that make sense? We always talk about beating with your chest.
“Beat with your chest, not with your hands. Because any time you beat with your hands, you guys are doing good,” Brown continued.
He concluded, stating: “Whether you foul or don’t foul, you’re going to give an official an opportunity to make a foul call on you.”
Brunson is currently attempting a career-high 8.8 free throws per game in the 2025-26 NBA season. Brown wants to see more of the same from his point guard throughout the campaign.
