Just days after coming together, Kemba Walker and the Detroit Pistons have decided it’s best to part ways.

Walker was acquired by the Pistons just last week from the New York Knicks as part of a three-team package that included the draft rights to Jalen Duren.

Upon the announcement of the trade, it was suggested that the Pistons would be waiving Walker shortly thereafter.

Sure enough, that is what happened: Adrian Wojnarowski states that Walker and the Pistons are finalizing a contract buyout.

Once the buyout is concluded, Walker will join free agency and can make a home on a new team.

The question is: which team will jump at the chance to sign this four-time All-Star?

Walker’s Rough Road

Things haven’t been going very smooth for Walker lately.

Back in February, the Knicks decided that Walker would be sidelined for the rest of the season so he could work out and get prepared for the next season.

This came after head coach Tom Thibodeau pulled Walker out of rotation entirely in favor of Alec Burks.

Walker wasn’t playing like his usual self in the run-up to Thibodeau’s decision, putting up only 11.6 points, 3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists a game.

That’s a far cry from his career-average of 19.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.

Walker says he wants to put this chapter behind him and once again play as he once did.

But you can’t blame other teams around the league from being a little hesitant to jump on board with him.

However, free agency is a peculiar thing and you never know what wild deal is right around the corner.

Therefore, there is a good chance that Walker will hop over to a new team in no time at all.
