The San Antonio Spurs are one of the most successful franchises in NBA history, boasting a total of five championships, with their last title coming in 2014. They are the fifth-winningest franchise in the league, only behind the Boston Celtics (18), Los Angeles Lakers (17), Golden State Warriors (7) and Chicago Bulls (6).

Throughout their 58-year history, however, the Spurs have never started a season with five straight wins ... that is until this 2025-26 campaign. According to ValleyCentral, San Antonio has started 4-0 four times before, but they have never won five straight to begin a season.

On Thursday, Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs achieved franchise history after defeating the Miami Heat, 107-101. As the NBA announced, it's the "first time ever" that San Antonio has a 5-0 record.

In another post, the NBA emphasized that it's the "best start to a season in Spurs franchise history."

Wembanyama has been sensational in the Spurs' historic start. Against the Heat, he had another monster performance with 27 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, one steal and five blocks.

In five games played, Wembanyama is averaging 30.2 points, 14.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 4.8 blocks. He leads the league both in rebounding and blocks.

Second-year guard Stephon Castle has been equally impactful for San Antonio, putting up 18.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.8 steals.

It remains to be seen if the Spurs can extend their winning streak to six and add more history to an already incredible start. They play the 1-4 Phoenix Suns on Sunday before facing the Los Angeles Lakers next Wednesday.
